Good sequence of images Deirdre, well done. Saves me going over to another site to check it out! :D

I finally got mine uploaded. Keep in mind that these are mirror-imaged from Deirdre's (as the SM40 has no prism).

Cheers,

Great sketches Dee and Jeff.
I only got a chance to look at the prom for about a half hour.
Here's my sketch from this morning:

I think I need a bit more practice.

Yahoo !!! , Jeff and Mike, great set of sketches. It is both wonderful and at the same time frustrating to see how the extra magnification improves the view.

I am still experimenting with different mediums, pastel still remains my favorite. Colored pencils give a different kind of control. Sketching the suns features is additive, role on sunspots, and lots of limb action.

I love seeing the same prom by a bunch of different people. They did one of these on CloudyNights a month or so ago with a bunch of imagers as well -- it was uncanny how accurate some of the sketches were.

Dee -- 75x is right at the bleeding edge of what the SM40 can deliver. But everytime I back off to 56x I miss the image scale. ;)

I tend to do the same at night -- I'll often push my Mak-Cass well beyond what the seeing allows on small planetary nebulae.

Cheers,
-- Jeff.
