Awesome pics Anto!
Well done on planning that.

I too had planned to take a shot of the full moon rising
over Bunratty Castle but I got my times wrong
and as I was heading out the door I noticed the Moon already up.

Next time I'll set an alarm!!

Well done again on some great work.

These are just amazing! The window to get a shot like this must be very short, about 5 minutes or so? Great work, must have taken a lot of preparation.

Gents,

A huge thank you for the kind words and great reception.

Bart, it took a lot (!) of work to reverse engineer the trick behind these photos and it is as follows:

(1) when the moon is rising, we need the sun to be between 4 and 6 degrees below the horizon
(2) our window of opportunity is five to six minutes
(3) we bracket our exposures by 1/3 stop since the lighting during these five to six minutes changes dramatically

When looking to identify a suitable foreground, pay some attention to possible lighting (ex. spotlights) which may impact the overall lighting (Dave, that is a spotlight which comes on at night to help light-up the temple).

I hope you enjoy tomorrow's NASA APOD.
