Milky Way panorama from Greece was created by Frank Ryan
Here is a panorama made up of of four 5min exposures stitched together
in Canon Photostitch.
Taken at the EAE Mt Parnon starparty last week
It's my first attempt a such a panorama and the obvious mistake is
that I didnt take enough shots to stitch
(I reckon it should have been at least 8 to get a better join)
Wish I could go out again tonight an try again!!
Anyway,
seeing as I forgot to pay the rent on my website the small
version is up here on flikr
(the large one is pretty cool )

Hi Frank,
This is a nice piece of work (!) involving the Milky Way from "horizon to horizon". What lens did you use for this set of exposures?
I am very eagerly waiting for the new line of SBIG cameras to surface (the STX series) so that I can pursue the large chip STX-11000XM and attempt something similar but using a CCD approach. With the much greater sensitivity, I should be able to easily bypass the extra work (R+G+ and hopefully complete a similar project over the course of one evening.

Very nice Frank.
As you say, a better overlap would have been great.
If you rotate the image by approx 5degrees CW, you can crop it into a neat rectangular section which looks a little better IMHO.

Thanks Anto.
I used a TOKINA AT-X 124 AF Pro DX 12-24mm f/4.0.
I look forward to seeing the result with your set up.

Thanks Seanie,
Cyberworld are no place for images like these.
The need to be printed out and put up on a wall so your eye can
appreciate them.
Mike,
good idea & thanks for the suggestion.
I think this looks better now also.
