Last night got my first effort at capturing Jupiter with DFK 21AU04 and Celestron 8SE.

Used 1/154 second exposure and from 1000 I stacked 300 with Registax
Then I sharpened it in Photoshop.

Not as good as Carls of course but I was happy enough to get this before the clouds came!

Hi Mullins,

Your image is very good processing is spot on.there is detail in the image. Also you should check your collimation by doing this you will get more detail from your AVI. I sent you a few links about collimating your scope hope this helps.

Here is another Jupiter image from the 15th that I did an experiment with.I processed and combined the RGB in MaxIm - dL V4.. I put in the RGB weight factors of the filters, did a planetary align and then some further processing in photoshop.

Nice one Mullins.
I'd second Carl's sentiment there and say the first step
in getting the best image is a perfectly collimated and cooled scope.
Great work on the processing.
How many FPS can you capture with that camera using that scope?

Carl,
that second image is really very good.
Are these your first attempts a Jupiter?
or is it with the new RGB set up?

Very true Frank It was a great way to learn our trade at the time. How things have changed .The great thing is there are no limits to what an amateur astronomer can do today witch is great for us all. From Planets to deep sky imaging, asteroid discoveries to pencil and paper sketching It's all there for us to do.
