try this Huffyuv
neuron2.net/www.math.berkeley.edu/benrg/huffyuv.html
its a lossless codec and the files should be at least half the size of an
uncompressed avi and at the modest FPS that these webcams use
even a 233mhz laptop should be able to manage it.

It could be a resource problem, memory or disk space. Try to turn off any unnecessary items like Anti Virus etc. and check the free disk space. A couple of AVI's can gobble up the free disk space quickly. Just a thought!

SOme comments.............
For saturn try at least a stack of 500 frames min. This may mean that you will have to take 800 - 1000frame avis.
As for the Jupiter it looks like the image has gone out of focus??
