Interesting, why is that? I would have thought the brighter/bigger would be better in the eyepiece ?
The southern cross image is great, is that how the sky looks from a dark site?
Omega is bigger but the stars are much finer. 47 Tuc is brighter visually.
I haven't seen omega through a big dob yet but next time I'm out I'll have a look through Alex's 22" (the one use to take those astrophotos) and let you know what to expect through the obsessionator.
From a dark site the coat sack is really obvious. The skies are not much darker thsn say the Burren but there is more/ denser milky way which make it look darker.
