Thanks everyone. Its been a few months since I was imaging last as we have had a very wet and cloudy year here in Melbourne. The skies here are spectacular. The main disadvantage is that as most people live near the big cities, you need to drive 2-3 hours to get to a dark sky site and escape the glare which takes a bit of forward planning (and is a Saturday event only during working times as its an overnight camp). I miss being able to pop out to the Burren site at a moments notice, which is almost as dark apart from the slight glow from Galway. I won't mention the feck*n mozzies......I like my creature comforts when observing (electricity, tea and coffee etc) so I mainly use the club site which is an hour away but has quite a bit of skyglow from the city (the SAC Boher site would blow it away).

great images John, I particularily like the omega image, you get a feel of what it might look like through a scope, It certainly lives up its reputation,
I'd bet the burren doesnt seem so far away now, we were up there 2 weeks ago, went to the lake nearby to get out of the wind, was a good night.
Keep up the imaging, have you seen the coalsack yet ?

Actually, I find 47 Tucanae much more impressive visually. Its a bit smaller but brighter and easier to resolve.

As for the coal sack...

Interesting, why is that? I would have thought the brighter/bigger would be better in the eyepiece ?
The southern cross image is great, is that how the sky looks from a dark site?
