You must be happy with that Dave, those are great return shots from an achro. Top stuff, the detail looks fabulous!

Dave,
Those are excellent images with your PST mod!
The past two weeks I have active in this regard as well. I was really hoping that NEAF (over the weekend) would involve another sell-off by Meade involving PST's with blemishes and similar to last year when they were let go for a mere $250.
Anyway, I am really hoping I can do something with my AP160 so as to exploit is 160mm diameter.
My congrats once again ... very impressive results!
Anthony.

Do you remember where you got your 2" PST adaptor and for how much? I am also looking for such a beast.

Thanx Folks
Michael this is the 130mm and the PST box, you sent me one email about seeing Lunt but never heard anymore from you so have binned the bf idea again for a while
Anthony it's a guy in Austria - I'll get his details and either PM or email you. Yes the 160 would be amazing but you dont need an apo as H alpha is monochromatic. Remember this mod involves taking a hack saw to your scope and I dont think the words saw and AP160 should be used in the same sentence

Dave
I sent you on a few emails to info@davegradwell.com
Lunt replied to my query and recommended that their blocking filters are not used with etalons from other manufacturers.
They also stated that their bf shouldn't be used with the PST mod.
From your images, I don't see any issues with vignetting from the use of the PST internal BF. Did you see any issues during the course of taking these images?
Anthony,
As for telescopes, a quality achro is perfect for this project - apo not required. This configuration wouldn't work with my TEC140 unfortunately so I wasn't going down the road of tube cutting with that one!

Trevor/Michael,
I wish I had been a little more careful with what I wrote earlier: there is no way I will be taking a hack-saw to my beloved AP160!
After posting my message, I realized that my Daystar ERF is 130mm in diameter - I bought from Nick Howes and it was supposedly owned by Damian Peach - and which means the AP160 would be stopped down to about f9.3 ... hopefully this will be enough.
If the AP160 is not suitable, I will then follow-up with my FSQ (f5) and which gets to f10 with the AP 2x barlow. I know of others who have used their FSQ successfully with the PST mod with Sebastian Kersten being one such example: www.astropixel.org/astropixel_modif_pst.htm .
Anyway, I am eager to get things sorted out now that the Sun has finally come to life!
Anthony.
