M27 Dumbbell Nebula was created by carlobeirnes
Hi all,
Here is an image I got of the M27 dumbbell nebula. This was my first time testing my imaging system with the C14 OTA it took sometime getting everything working right but got there in the end for the oncoming dark sky's. I'm not at the level I want to be at with my processing but that will come in time and practice.
The image was taken through a Celestron C14 OTA@ F5 with an Atik4000 ccd camera with astronomik HA-RGB 50mm round filters. Images where captured using maxim DL. Exposures where 120min H-Alpha and 60 minutes each in RGB and processing was done using Maxim DL images-plus Ver3.5 and photoshop cs3.
Please click on image to enlarge.

Carl, you are far to modest. That's a stunning image!
I've never seen the outer layer of M27 like that before.
Hope to do some imaging next weekend, haven't be out in months.

Fantastic image, the outer gas came out really well. I just picked up an atik4000 last week. I am waiting patiently now for a clear night to get a first light.

Hi all,
Thanks for the comments the emission around the the nebula was brought out great from the 6nm H-Alpha filter. Johnny the best of look with the camera did you get the one shot color or the mono version.
Carl.
