Hi guys,
Sorry for butting in, but when I saw Marks nice pic taken on the 3rd Nov' (well done on your second attempt), it reminded me of my version taken on the same evening. A weather front had just passed through, leaving the skies beautifully transparent with very ltttle turbulence, ideal for planetary viewing! The following nights weren't just as good, with a lot more turbulence, but I for one was more than happy to be out for 4 nights in row (rare event in this country!) 1000 frames using my SPX900 and an AP155EDFS with a 5x powermate. I use WXastro for capture, it works well with webcams and is free also. Haven't a clue about registax5, just let it do its business! Webcaming is great fun and relatively cheap with immediate results, looking forward to a good Mars apparition
David.

Nice work there, David.
It just goes to show what one can get out of that little webcam.
I priced up a ICX414AL CCD today. If any of you are aware, this is one of a range of Sony CCD sensors that can be transplanted into a SPC900 board to give a more sensitive, higher resolution camera. Add a peltier and you have something approaching a pro-level astrocam.
The cost isn't too high but I'm more wary that I probably don't have time to devote to it at present.

It's great to see 2 separate images of the same object coincidentally taken the same time! Neil, you captured a great image, as did you David (though, David, it could be a bit brighter - would that loose some detail if done?). Where are your respective locations?

Lovely shots Neil and David. I am sorry to say that I have yet to get a good Jupiter this season though I've had a couple of goes, I'm just not getting the seeing necessary to register the detail. That night can't be far off though

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the comments and suggestions, I'm a bit out of practice at processing, but I didn't want to burn out the central area (if you blank out the rest of the screen which is mostly white, the image brightens up).
Slightly off topic, as this is an astronomy forum, I'd prefer a black/dark gray background and white text, also makes any images posted by members stand out a bit better, just a thought!
IMO, it doesn't really matter what your scope or camera is (although for the ultimate in resolution it does), its the seeing conditions that determines the level of detail that can be acquired. I shoot from very light polluted and turbulent Belfast! Seanie, that big Obsession 22" and webcam from your skies should give a cracking result, have you got an equatorial wedge to keep the field rotation at bay?
Just been on the UKAI forum, check out the Jupiter pics, superb:
