Sorry for the delay replying a I was away. Now where will I start :>))
If you are using a monochrome camera with Red, Green and Blue filters time is around 50seconds per RGB filter imaging Jupiter due to rotation. If using a colour camera you can image much longer.mjc wrote: Carl
What is the recommended maximum duration of capture?
Is it 50 seconds duration to complete the capture of red, green, and blue, or is it 50 seconds per channel (i.e. 150 seconds imaging before Jupiter rotation causes smear)?
If it's the latter then I recently gave some bum advice to another poster.

My first reaction to the image was it
was slightly out of focus but after reading
Marks post maybe its rotation smear?
What do you think?
Frank It could be rotation or I made the image size to big I’ll look more into it when I’m processing the next image.
Thanks Dave she sure is putting on a show.Dave_Lillis wrote: thats a great shot Carl, Jupiter is certainly giving us all a good display these days, it was stunning over the weekend.!!

Clear skies

Thanks very much Aiden that’s the biggest compliment anyone could receive. The way I look at astrophotography sometimes everything goes right then sometimes things wrong. Just pick yourself up dust yourself off and always try to improve on your last image and always ask loads of questions.
Clear skies,
