image taken last night was created by astroado
Hi all
Just trying to post some images taken with the neximage ccd camera through my cpc 800 scope, trying to get a handle on this camera, so any comments would be welcome, how to improve my imaging, better equipment or anything I need to improve. I have to say I am happy with the images so far, but my intention is to push this camera and scope as far as possible before upgrading. Jupiter image was taken last night, an avi of 900 frames at 1/33, 5 fps of which about 700 were stacked and processed in registax 6. Moon image was 1000 frames at 1/33 10 fps of which around 400 stacked and processed in registax 6. Please let me know what you think, Thank you.
Clear skies.
Aiden

Very nice images, much better than I managed to get with the cpc925 and my old toucam pro last night! Tonight will be spent mostly collimating I think.

Thanks Albert, have not collimated my scope yet, fear prevents me from having a go, but hopefully with the help of members on this forum I will have a stab at it in the future. I must just add both images captured with WXastrocapture, Jupiter with 2x barlow so f20, Moon at f10.

You are in a similar position to myself so. I've haven't tried collimating my sct yet, but I'm told its easier than a newtonian which I am comfortable doing, so I'll give it a go tonight if the weather holds. WXastrocapture seems pretty good, I tied it for the first time yesterday also, though I probably should read the manual with regard to the gain settings etc. My images were poor at f10, couldn't find my barlow, and the 5x powermate would have just been silly!
legault.perso.sfr.fr/collim.html gives a good overview of collimation.

Collimation is often seen as some kind of sorcery but usually it's just a case of being patient and methodical. Star testing is one of those things that just clicks once you know what you're looking for. It does depend on good seeing and accurate tracking helps too (unless you have an artificial star but even that's not without pitfalls).
My advice is to get a CD marker, mark the default position of the collimation screws, then begin. If you feel like the collimation is not improving you always know where you started and can easily return the screws to their initial orientation.

Hi Aidan,
Those ar good images, have you tried brighteneing the Jupiter in photoshop? to me it looks a little dim.
Focus looks good, youre definitely on the right track.
