Wow....I don't think you can call that a DSLR anymore
But 1500e for 550D ? I recon you can buy a good CCD for that money.

Looks pretty solid!
One of the frustrations I've had with the Atik 16HR is it's lack of support under linux. It doesn't even play nice in a virtual machine.
Thanks to gphoto2 and Canon's more friendly stance to the community I can control my 500D from linux (or indeed any OS). I've seen many of these DSLR conversions and I'm very tempted...

Try taking your wedding snaps with a CCD
Am I right in assuming that JWT are simply taking the guts out of a DSLR and repackaging it into their custom made body? Or do you buy their custom-made body and shove your DSLR into it? Confused...

That's pretty much it. To attach the 'cold finger' to the sensor one would have to dismantle the camera.
