Fantastic as always Carl!

Had never heard of Winjupos before. Just checked it out and it looks really good, especially if one doesn't have one of the fast imagers.

All my jupiter images are getting sabotaged by crashing registax 6

Have found that happening alot as well, particularly with dslr images of the moon, and installed Registax 5.1 alongside 6. When 6 crashes I use Autostakkert or Reg 5.1. Luckily one of them always works out ;-)

Superb image Carl!

Trevor, there's a tutorial on WinJupOS in the December issue of the BBC's Sky at Night magazine.

Hi all,

Thanks for the comments. I made a big error when capturing the data on this set of images I misunderstood the workings of Winjupos de-rotate. I thought I could image Jupiter for a longer period of time’ let’s say two minutes per channel of RGB. Not the way Winjupos works. What to do is take lots of AVI’s at around 45sec’s per RGB 3 to 4 thousand frames on each channel. Process them as you normally would in registax or AutoStakkert then bring Reds channels let’s say 10 reds into Winjupos and make one master Red same with the Greens and Blues. One thing to remember the programme needs your longitude and latitude and the time each image was taking to the second, BTW the seconds have to go in decimal format. This link should be helpful exosky.net/exosky/?p=1412 . When I took the image above I thought my collimation was off but in the end my exposures where just to long you live and learn. Hope you planetary imagers out there give this a go your results will speak of themselves.

So whats the workflow like on this?

Take the avi's, process into 45sec cumulative images in AutoStakkert/Registax, then use Winjupos to put the lot together? Or can you just feed a set of avi's to WinJupos?

Just curious for now. I haven't even played with AutoStakkert yet :)

Cheers,
~Al

Hi Albert,

Your images must be processed first in AutoStakkert/Registax then into winjupos. AutoStakkert is very simple just load in your image select planet on the upper left. Then select region of interest on your AVI around 9 squares don't select the edges of the planet. The progamme will run automatically and just sharpen your image in registax 6. Do you use teamviwer I could show you?
