It's great that Adobe is doing it. We actually nabbed a copy in work because one of our interns was stuck with a computer without photoshop.

CS2 is also the version we used in college. The bright grey UI really brings back memories

I have photoshop elements 11 but it does not have the curves adjustment layer which, as we all know, is important for astro image processing. I downloaded cs2 to try out but it will not open my cr2 files from my 1100d. Camera raw is not updated that recent so does anyone know if there is a way around this so I can open the raw files?

Hi Tony,
I think the CR2 files from the 1100D might be too new for CS2. There's a great Camera RAW plugin for photoshop but I don't think it's compatible that far back either.

Some googling revealed that converting the CR2 into a different format (DNG) is the way to go. I'm not sure if they're free but there are converters out there to download.

Yea, the camera raw plugin for CS2 probably doesn't support newer cameras.

Have a look at Digital Negative though www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/extend.displayTab2.html that should be able to convert the raw files to photoshop can open. DNG claims to produce files compatible back to the original Photoshop CS.
