OK, well, it was an idea I had before, I'll turn it into a plan! There are a few heads on these boards that are very capable of showing a few tips and tricks, one has been in touch for 'grinds' too. Once I sort out htese sources and see what else pops up, I will see what Albert and I can come up with for a workshop.

On the original topic, I'd prefer a book on the subject, but like I said, it's a recommendation I need rather than a trawl through online hits in a search. Personally, I don't get much free time to dwell too much online after work-related stuff, so I'd like something for bedtime reading!

Hi Seanie, I'd be happy to be involved in a workshop type event. I'd probably add a different perspective to things as I came to astrophotography through being a keen photographer rather being an astronomer who wanted to photograph things!

Keep me in mind!

Cheers,

Paul.

hi Seanie,

I've the following book and it is a nice introduction to astrophotography ...
www.amazon.co.uk/Digital-Astrophotograph...00817/ref=pd_sim_b_1

Also have www.willbell.com/DigitaAstrophoto/Default.htm but bought it in the US and had it shipped to my sister in L.A. -- postage from Willmann-Bell (US) to Ireland is horrendous. The 1st edition is listed on Amazon but I'd definitely try for the 2nd edition if you know someone travelling over.

Another publication I picked up is buysubscriptions.com/Product/complete-gu...AE12&countryCode=GBR which is a nice overview of astrophotography. It has lots of hints and tips but does cover everything from tripod-mounted shots to thru-the-telescope so it doesn't touch on things in depth.

Paul Money also has a nice A5 intro to astrophotography at www.astrospace.co.uk/nightscenes/ns-sa.html -- I did have a copy of the publication but gave it away once I got the Covington book. Paul's guide really brings across the fact he has got out there and took those shots, highlighting whatever pitfalls along the way.

Talk soon,

John
