Hey Brendan
I managed to convert them to 16 Bit FITS using FITS Liberator, you can load them up and then save them as another FITS file or TIFF File with the appropriate BIT size, and this then allowed me to process them in photoshop.
I only noticed that the OIII data did not seem as smooth as the SII or HA data when being stretched, although I managed to soften this it out using Noise Ninja, I just mapped them to
SII - Red
HA - Green
OIII - Blue
And then processed the clipping masks as normal, then once I was happy with that, I copied the "Merged Image" to a new image in PhotoShop and applied my Hubble Palette Action Item that I created, this resulted in the image here
What I typically find helps a lot, is to also use the HA data as a "Luminance" layer when imaging narrowband.

Thanks Simon - just put the Ha in again as Lum and that indeed lifted those blues out. I have to play with this some now - see what can be done when I have the time.....but two thoughts hit me.....1) I love having the BLUE show up - that I could not get before but 2) I feel that my original shows more depth. Obviously I have a lot of work and learning to do.....thanks for at least showing me one new trick
I do all processing in PixInsight - but at the end of the day that makes no difference...except for the workflow...but the image should turn out the same (more or less) in the end. Let me see where I end up with this in due course.
I hope your original 'experimenting' was a success....but perhaps it was just what we have been talking about.....the 'not so common' narrow band colours that I came out with originally.
Brendan.

This is just a very quick two minutes worth - put the Ha in as Lum and very quick stretch & curve adjustment. Like I said...more work to do on this ....and thanks again for opening another door for me...

Brendan, that's much better, there's a lot more detail in that one, all you have to do now is get the right "Yellow" balance for true Hubble Palette
Narrowband processing takes a while to get used to, and even now I'm finding new useful techniques. I will actually get round to posting a guide on how I process my own images with links to the relevant resources.
You can also try other colour palette techniques, I much prefer Hubble but there are others

To reduce the Pink "Hue" on the stars, try reducing the Saturation on the Magenta channel, that's what I do in Photoshop once the processing is happy

Thanks Simon........hope to have some time to play more with the data tonight. What I have learned here today hopefully will be a big help also for putting some more data on Thor's Hemet (an old pic of mine on Flickr). I have the extra Ha subs with me.....for doing on a 'rainy day'
