Last night was the strangest. Early on when there was a break in the clouds i had a peek outside (naked eye). Took me a couple of mins to locate Mars because for some reason it appeared white. Looked just like any star but brighter. After about 3 more mins it got a bit of colour (faint yellow). Was this the effect of thermals from surrounding houses/pollution?
Wasnt my eyes cuz they had adjusted to the dark because i always turn of lights a few mins before i go out.

Colour enhancement is not a reason to get a barlow, I doubt if it would help in that respect, and as for filters, sure you can put on a blue filter and make Mars like blue if you like, but you don't do it because you like the colour.

thats what i figured - i think i may be better off keeping what i have until i upgrade, then use the money to go for something larger.
I wear glasses and i have not terrible vision but not great either. my wife has pretty much 20/20 vision and ive just asked her what colours she seen saturn/mars- she says they were a faint yellow - so either she is seeing something thats not there or im not seeing something that is there
What i do find awkward though is getting close (real close) to my 4mm lens with glasses on my eyes. I dont wear contacts at all.

A barlow won't enhance detail from a small point of light as that obtained in the Skylux. It will just make a small bright object larger and more diffuse. I don't even both bother with the barlows on my 70mm and 80mm refractors and 72mm reflector.
