Lunar Eclipse

HI ALL.

I am planning to go out to capture lunar eclipse and have a few questions.

1. Are the progression shots that you see here and there just simple cut and place colages?

2. Would there be much difference between the exposure required at full moon and at total eclipse?

3. Will you be usin scope or Zoom lens? (i have a canon with 90/300 zoom lens)... (is the magnification of this lens 300/35= 8.5mag???)



I know you may say experiment, but you only get one crack at it.. so the more info I have the better.

That's a fab link Euronymous, thanks for posting. Some of the techniques it describes though do seem more favoured towards the film camera over a digital one.

Very true for a solar eclipse, but with a digital camera and the long duration of the lunar eclipse you have the time and storage to adjust and shoot again repeatedly. Bracket your exposures in 1/3 or 1/2 increments for up to two full stops either side of what appears optimal at the time, you'll be glad you did when the time comes to select the best of them.

As of now www.metcheck.com is predicting up to 99% cloud cover for the duration of the eclipse. Typical.
