I'm glad you got to use your new scope and an eyefull of the moon.
The moon is suprisingly bright through a scope - some form of filter really is recomended. You got to see it pretty much full moon - the views will get better as you see it transition through the phases. I think you'll enjoy it more when its not full and you get to see structure due to the shadows - there's a perception of hight and depth when the sun strikes it from the side.
I feel that the moon is generally underestimated by seasoned astronomers - though Patrick Moore never lost the eye for it.

Hi its called an Optus 70 mm refractor i think.....
Could it be a reflector Ciaran? The Optus series as far as I know are all reflectors, and the 70mm Optus is an Aldi favourite.
It's not a bad scope as a starter or one-for-the-kids, but there are much better ones not much more expensive you would be recommended to get instead. Remember, you do get what you pay for!
