Is it even worthwhile bothering to try see it? Bearing in mind I'm in Dublin city and a clear eastern horizon is gonna mean a bit of a trek.

Yes! Go take a look now! Nice view of it from here. Much better than I expected. I grabbed a few shots too but won't get a chance to work on them till the weekend.
Clear skies,

Just tried to photograph it, but I could'nt believe it when the area where the moon was rising was cloudy, either side of that was clear
I just had a look now through the binos, I saw a slight dimming on the top right hand side of the moon, but certainly nothing spectacular.
How much % eclpise in march next does anyone know?
Keith..

Only just got to see it at about 21:00. I think I missed anything that might have been interesting. Oh well.
Finally an eclipse on a clear night and bloody houses and trees get in the way of it!

Dear Friends,
I am already ducking for stating that we had perfect weather for the event ... and here is the proof:
www.perseus.gr/Astro-Eclipses-2006-09-07.htm and www.perseus.gr/Astro-Eclipses-2006-09-07b.htm ....
I am anxiously waiting for the next such major event next spring. I am afraid the solar eclipse in a couple of weeks is not worth the trouble to travel for it or, otherwise, I would have gone for it.
Best wishes from Greece!
Anthony.
