hi everyone.
Paul FitzGerald, thank you
I'll try to comment your posts.
First, about flights between Moscow and Nsk. You can choose Aerflot, S7 (s7.ru), Transaero. Last two use boeing. Cheaper tickets available for students (search startravel.ru). There are many specialprice-sales, especially on autumn and spring.
You can fly to Novosibirsk from Frankfurt (s7), Antalia (s7) and Stambul (not regular). Also, Tolmachevo airport is working with some asian airlines, so you can try to fly via china or smth like that - may be it would be cheaper.

How about a camping setup? Seriously.... the challenge is getting there and having somewhere to stay.

there is an observatory in NSU.
p.s. turizm.ngs.ru/hotel/ - there you will find information about local hotels and hostels. Follow links - most of the sites have english version

but as somebody else said before in this post, try to contact the Novosibirsk State University, you might be able to arrange something with their physics/astronomy department.

Hi
Just did a quick look at the cost of flying from London to Novosibirsk (typical cost for that time of year). It worked out around €620 return. That was with Aeroflot all the way. It is about the same as a flight to say Singapore. I must contact one of my former colleagues in Germany (who goes to all of these eclipses with the German wing of the IOTA ) and see if they are organising any charter flights direct from Germany. This would probably be a cheaper option.

Just got word from my German colleague (iota.de). There is a daily flight from Hannover to Novosibirsk and they plan to use this route. As I hear more I will post it onto the site

John,
This is absolutely excellent! Does your German contact have any info on local accomodation?
What a riot being on the same flight with my Irish buddies (and Seanie).
