Well,
have any IFAS clubs organized anything for the Perseids?
I'd like to get something organized for SAC.
Does anyone know when the peak time is for us?
Cheers.

Well Frank,
We discussed this at the meeting on Wednesday, basically if its clear any night between now and Tuesday, we'll head to the Burren and have a look.
I think maximum is in the early morning of the 12th.

The predicted maximum for the Perseids this year is after 11am Irish Time on Tuesday 12th. The peak favours north Pacific and western American seaboard observers. The Gibbous Moon will set by 2am Irish Time (pretty much) both nights, but it's more the long range forecast I am worried about. There hasn't been a clear Perseids night of maximum in my observing records for 5 years now.
TAS was hoping to do its Annual Perseids StarBQ, but the committee haven't talked about it since Tuesday last. And again, the weather forecast for tomorrow night says "why bother anyway"...

We'd a good Perseids two years ago.
Last year was a washout though.
www.eaas.co.uk/news/perseids
Weather permitting, the EAAS are planning on having an all night observing session and barbecue at Killylane Reservoir on the night of Monday 11 August, starting at 8.30pm.
All are welcome to attend.
The moon will be present for the first part of the night but will set around 2am Tuesday morning, leaving us with darker skies.
If you would like to attend, directions are provided in the link below.
www.eaas.co.uk/public_observing.html
Please bring warm clothes, despite it being summer, it can get cold.
Bring a flask of tea or coffee, even soup.
A deck chair or recliner will help keep your head at the right angle.
We will provide the barbecues, you bring the meat!
Hopefully the weather will be kind to us, but please keep an eye to the EAAS Forum at eaas.proboards31.com/index.cgi
just in case.

Best of luck Eamonn, if it was a more favourable location to mine, I'd be there.
