ISS solar transit from Dublin next Saturday? was created by cobyrne
According to
www.calsky.com
, there may be a transit of the ISS across the face of the Sun as seen from Dublin next Saturday afternoon.
The predicted time is just before 14:37UT (3:37pm) and the track passes from west to east just south of the city centre.

Looks like its visible from Dun Laoghaire- just, confirmation from Starry night. Unfortunately I will be in wicklow at the time which is too far south.

Is Tullamore, while a mere 55 miles away in astronomical terms, too far from the path?

Doing it quickly myself, the path seems to pass a few km north of Kilbeggan.

Go to www.calsky.com , and set yourself up for Tullamore, and select Satellites, then ISS. Then set the date, and click on "only calculate sun/moon crossers and close encounters". Then, if you hit the "Go" button, you should get the result. Is Tullamore, while a mere 55 miles away in astronomical terms, too far from the path?

Just trying that link now Colm, it seems to be a dead one. Sure its a dot com?
If the path is a few km north of Kilbeggan, then there is a chance that maybe it touches at Tyrrellspass, where I really live...
