strange as i am not too far from the airport yet i have never seen any of these strange lights. they must hide when i am out and about particularly when i am out observing ;).

From the book description on Mercierpress:

"Butler and Nally firmly believe that UFOs are a reality and no matter what causes might be suggested" Then some blurb about the bible and newgrange...

Not the approach that makes me want to buy the book.

while that may be true to an extent, the more you examine the subject the less evidence there seems to be mostly just urban legends. UFO does not equal little green men, if it did it would not be unidentified in the first place.

Of course Unidentified Flying Objects exist. The reason they are called UFO's is self explanatory.
To think that they are ETs is another matter. We'd all love to think that ETs are out there and I'm sure thats where they'll stay - OUT THERE (many light years away).
Conspiracy theories are popular 'cause we'd all love to blame someone else or make the government responsible.
Life is usually simpler/or more complicated (delete as appropriate) than that. I personally believe that SETI is now a waste of time (if ET was out there we'd have found him by now).

What I find fascinating is the things you don't read or see in the general media, and mostly anything that is published or broadcast in the general media is treated somewhat as a bit of unusual light-hearted fun and somewhat controlled, any following debates that may occur seem to me to be within limited parameters mostly. This reminds me of a quotation by Noam Chomsky...

"The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that spectrum - even encourage the more critical and dissident views. That gives people the sense that there's free thinking going on, while all the time the presuppositions of the system are being reinforced by the limits put on the range of the debate".

I remember reading the book "The Missing Times" by Terry Hansen (science journalist). He wrote the book to provide tools for his fellow journalists when dealing with UFOs.

Stephen, the sightings by the pilots were north of Dublin Airport in the Slane/Newgrange region.

John, I agree with you regarding SETI been a waste of time. Its a pity they are not trying other methodologies beside just radio. What about Dyson Spheres in the infrared bands!

Headline in this weeks Kildare Post.

"COPS JOIN ALIEN HUNT"

Apparently last Friday night June 23rd, strange lights were seen in Kildare. Many people from Naas to Athy who observed six or seven flashing lights in a triangular shape were confused and awestruck at the sight.

Naas Gardai were contacted and dispatched to the area and numerous people contacted KFM radio staion.

Without prejudice
