[So, I'm pretty stumped. I was going to call it after my website - Astroshack but I'm not so sure of that. All suggestions will be considered - the more bizarre or hilarious the better.]

The suggestion about Minogue Observatory and the associated replies thereafter are priceless. Also, what a great way to get her (I know, I am just dreaming) to visit the premises if and when she makes it to Ireland.
As an aside, how about some esoteric star name? For example, one of the local amateurs just christened his web site as "Albireo Observatory" ... how about "Orionis Observatory" or something similar?
Another possibility: Hermes Observatory (after the messenger of the Gods in ancient Greek mythology ... analogue in Irish culture?) ...
Anyway, I am sure you will have LOTS of fun coming up with a catchy name. Please post us your final selection.
Anthony.

Folks - with the new observatory imminent, I was thinking today of what to call it.
Aimend - an Irish Sun goddess (the only celtic god(ess) that I could find that has anything to do with any star!).

You know the way that once you see something, you start seeing it all over the place? Well, I've now started seeing Celtic solar god(ess)s.

James O'Connor wrote a few articles in Orbit about irish mythology and astronomy iirc. Some might have been reprinted in arcturus or photon, I'll check later.
