Indeed it is. Doesn't speak much for their quality control, does it?

I know from experience that a Meade scope can be more of a kit than a finished product. Yet I still find it frustrating at times. I feel bad for those folks who aren't prepared to dig into the thing and yet get one of the "not quite right" ones.

I was at a club meeting the other day with a fella whose C11 broke down. It looked like something really simple, but who am I to say "go ahead, void your warranty. Let's have a look inside!"

I've read many a screwed up story about ther quality control.
Your referance to kits is interesting.

I tend to think of these scopes like a car, it wont run flawlessly forever and if you can maintain/fix the electronics and mechanical parts that go wrong and understand the beast, you'll be saved alot of grief and money.

If you're one of those guys who has trouble changing lightbulbs, this is not the scope for you. :lol:
