Star Trekking - Can't remember which group, but it made No 1.
Holt's "Planets" - orchestral symphony type stuff.
Phil
Jonny Cash - Ring of Fire... about an annular eclipse???? I always thought he was singing of the woes of O.D.ing on vindaloo... and getting the anular rips!

That was The Firm.
The Revs - Satellites
Heard a song once called Planet X by Christine Lavin. It was about 7 mins long and was about Pluto's discovery and the beginnings of the 'is it a planet or not' controversy.
It's worse than that, it's physics Jim!

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.

After one look at this planet any visitor from outer space would say; "I WANT TO SEE THE MANAGER".

What a great sideline to a dull day
“Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft†was a song originally performed by a band called “Klaatu†in 1976 and it is still the best version by a long shot in my opinion. The “Carpenters†did a cover version a year later which became well known as Dave M pointed out. The song originally came about because of an unusual event that took place in 1953…
In March 1953 an organization known as the "International Flying Saucer Bureau" sent a bulletin to all its members urging them to participate in an experiment termed "World Contact Day" whereby, at a predetermined date and time, they would attempt to collectively send out a telepathic message to visitors from outer space. The message began with the words..."Calling occupants of interplanetary craft!
The original World Contact Day was March 15, 1953.
Could we include space themes in this category such as TV and film soundtracks (Star Wars, StarMan, K-PAX, Sky at Night (At the Castle Gate by Jean Sibelius) etc., this would offer many additions to the list?
Oh I just thought I throw in “Kelly Watch The Stars†by Air.
Clear skies
