why didnt I hang on abit more, it was faint enought when I saw it, anyway, here is a pic I got of it.
To me, the colour was no way near as abvious as this picture suggests. and the only part that seemed to move was the red on the right, my eyes were not really dark adapted at the time, lets hope for a repeat soon.
I havent enhanced any colours in thsi pic, you can see traces of red above the green.
I used a Canon 300D, at iso1600 and a 42 second exposure on a simple tripod.
Orions neb, it certainly was clear in Clare last night

Decided to take a detour into the country on my way home from work (at about 00:50) and WOW .... saw some pretty amazing stuff!

Nice shot Dave.
I only saw a slight red glow - or should I say a sluightly brighter red glow to the north. With Newbridge off towards my north, a strong aurora would be needed for it to be obvious to the naked eye.

Nice shot Dave, describes your view perfectly
Pat, 'Do people see some colours more prominant than others?'
I did see some red, but maybe when you saw the aurora 1st, it had'nt appeared/or was gone already?, these wisps/colours can move quite quickly
Keith.

Do people see colours differently,?
I was wondering whether I was seeing a very faint red or not, to be honest I couldn't decide if I was imagining it or not, but since the pics captured it and the rest of ye saw it, then it must have been there.
I'd say been dark adapted would play a roll, I had been driving the car for 30 mins before hand, and where I stopped, there were cars passing by, so unfortunately I was far from been dark adapted.
I have noticed that one of my eyes sees red very slightly better then the other (through the telescope).

Regards,
John
I had a look outside and indeed the clouds are red, right down to the horison which I would not have thought as been normal here, again is this wishful thinking or is the mother of all Aurora happeneing as I type this ??? Can anyone see anything ??
