Great story about the Magpie - we have loads of them here, I'd hate to kill one by accident!

Nearly shot me a magpie once cuz the silly fecker flew across the path of my arrow. Scared me to hell..........but i think the magpie was more scared.

One for sorrow, two for joy............

I wouldnt set out to pin a magpie in flight to my target..............but IF i did............i think that would earn me the nic-name of Robin Hood or William Tell.

I have to admit this (and this is the only time and place i'll admit to it). Many advanced archers in the club i was a memeber of were kinda jealous of me because believe it or not i have a natural talent for it from the start.

The 1st time i ever shot a bow...i was 12 yrs old and the shootmaster asked me if i had ever done archery before.

I guess people have a hidden talent somewhere in themselves.

Mine seems to be archery.

I aint blowing my own trumpet cuz i dont believe in that. I just formed this opinion based on other peoples comments.

Funny you should say that Paul - I went on a stag weekend a few years ago, part of which involved clay pigeon shooting. I had never fired a gun before but got 16/20 on my first go and came third out of twelve overall - the two that beat me were regular shooters.

I intended to pursue the activity but came to live in NI and took up astronomy instead :-)

You're right there Paul - I've never got a purple shoulder from doing astronomy!
