But maybe people wouldn't appraciate getting texts at 4am to say the ISS will be passing over in an hour - I dunno!

Surely they'd send a text out, say 4pm, that covers the next 24 hours? Then you're good and ready to view the ISS - even it is *is* at 4am...

Just so as people are aware, satellite USA 193 can be tracked also. It is easily bright enough for naked eye observation. From looking at the predictions for the next 10 days, it's magnitude varies from 1.5 to 5.0, although it is typically about mag 3.5. It can be seen each night over the next 10 nights.
To find it, go to the heavens above website and register: www.heavens-above.com
Then, once you have registered and logged back in, go to "Select a satellite from the database" under the "Satellites" heading on the home page.
On the following page, type "USA 193" in the Satellite Name box and press the "Submit" button,
Then, click on "USA 193" on the following page.
On the next page, click on "Passes" in the top right corner and up pops the 10 day predictions for your home site.

Sounds more difficult to do than it actually is.

If I was to subscribe to a text service for the ISS, I wouldn't want early morning alerts to be honest, if I'm not up then I wouldn't want to know,
and you're right saturnv, we wont loose money, err, I mean sleep over it
