Hello all! My first post here in irishastronomy.org!
I would like to thank everyone in Astronomy Ireland for the wonderful evening last night in Phoenix Park, as part of the 100 Hours of Astronomy!
I hope the weather permits a second gathering tonight at the same place!
Cheers,
Evan

The IFAS(Irish Federation of Astronomical Soceities) forums are not actually affiliated with the Astronomy Ireland organisation Evan, though there are a few members of AI who do post here and were probably at the Phoenix park event last night. I am sure they will accept and appreciate your thanks and also pass them on to CEO David Moore

SAC Public Observing Sessions for IYA
April 2 - 5th Shannonside Astronomy Club held
a series of public observing sessions at the newly refurbished
O Callaghans Strand in Limerick
As part of the 100 hours of astronomy global event.
This project was a 100-hour, round-the-clock, round-the-globe event
that included live webcasts from research observatories,
public observing events and other activities around the world.
Our objective for the three nights was to set up our club &
member scopes and offer the general public an opportunity to
look through them under supervision at the various targets on offer.
Over the three nights we had a steady stream of people attend,
with many passers by stopping to take a look and ask questions.
The most popular target was defiantly Saturn which is always impressive
to see through a large scope let alone for the first time.
We were, along with the rest of the clubs in Ireland that ran similar
observing events, very lucky with the weather and for the most
part we could not have hoped for better for the three nights.
Many club members brought along their own scopes and
some even gave a demo of astrophotography.
Overall the event was a major success,
thanks to all the committee and club members that made it happen.
