Drumroll please.....

And the person with the most votes by a clear majority to become IFAS Astronomer of The Year 2008 is...

well two people actually...

Dave McDonald and Dave Grennan!

Well done Daves! Thoroughly Deserved!

Both Dave McDonald and Dave Grennan have contributed significantly to these boards since they joined a few years ago. As if that were not enough, they each discovered an asteroid within a few weeks of each other - 160 years since Andrew Graham discovered Asteroid 9 Metis in 1848 from these shores. Their work is a reflection of how much amateur astronomers can contribute even in the particularly difficult weather of this year and is a hugh inspiration to us all.

Well done fellas!

I think the Chinese calander for 2008 is going to be changed to the Year of the Dave's..

A well deserved accolade for all the time and effort spent in the pursuit of faint objects. Many congrats to both of you.

Congrats to both Daves on a well deserved gong - and thanks for the inspiration your efforts have given us all - your successes have really re-fired the imagination!

I think this calls for a wee celebration! :silly:

Phil.

Ps... now get out there and discover some more rocks! :P
