On a more serious note and getting back to the original topic, it would appear that the scale of the problem re the companies and personnel in question is significant with reports of missing sums well in excess of Stg£100k mentioned on other forums.
As it happenes, I came close to dealing with the guy in question recently but was steered clear by some good people on the boards here. Thank You!!

Allegedly, several people had paid for equipment that they never recieved.
Allegedly, this was often for premium equipment like AP mounts and scopes.

In one case, it is alleged that an AP scope was paid for by the customer.
However, the customer never received the scope and the dealer allegedly offered a range of excuses why the shipping was delayed.
In the meantime, the dealer had allegedly tried to sell the exact same scope to someone else.
To make matters worse, the dealer had allegedly never bought the scope in the first place, let alone try and sell it to several different people.

bloody hell, a series of travesties,
Scopes allegedly shipped and returned by the currier damaged, and bad batches, this guy is some piece of work.
One thing about the astro community is that its so close knit, a ruined reputation quickly becomes permanent and spreads at the speed of light.
