Hi,
Comet McNaught C/2006 P1 obsevered low in twilight.
2006 Jan 5 at 17.12 to 17.19 UT.
Magnitude roughly 0.5 to 1.
Short tail visible at PA=20deg.
DC=9.

12x36 binoculars
Clear but a little hazy

Nice catch John, it was cloudy in the south west from here in Kerry :( .
What exposure and magnification is the image?

Very nice John, that is certainly more visible then I had imagined.
Definitely worth looking for if the sky is clear.!

Hi,

The image is a detail: about 1/5th of the original width (200mm lens with 350D DSLR).
Shows how small the comet is.

Exposure is 0.25 sec at ISO 400.

Altitude 5 deg.

The farther north you are the better the visibility, but within Ireland the
effect is slight.
