Hi folks,

They're back. The bresser 10X50's for €17.99 on 26th April.

These are well worth it at 17.99, but have a look through them in the store to make sure they are perfectly aligned and that the exit pupils are round. if you don't like them, you can return them within 28 days for your money back. I really cannot justify another set of binoculars. Mind you, i used the prisms and housing from a set to replace inferior ones on a pair of 15X70's. Maybe its time to get another spare set just in case.

While you are there you may want to pick up their camping table for use as an observing table. 60cmX80xmX65cm. Might be a bit low though.

Cheers
Trevor

i have a set of these and i cannot praise them enough. they are fantastic. i got a telescope first, and got these on a whim as they were so cheap, but i use them way more than my scope, and when viewing many things such as clusters, they provide much better views, and you can easily see the orion nebula through these babies! wouldnt trade them for anything! get them guys!! im getting a 2nd set, just for when i get my girlfiiend out to look at the pliades! for such a tiny investment they opened up the night sky tenfold for me!

Thanks for the heads-up Trevor, my own binoculars packed it in last week - 7 years regular and faithful service courtesy of Aldi - not bad going for £24.00! I too have taken the lenes and prisms out of it, maybe to use on something else (like my pair of dual 200mm binoculars I'm building!).

Sounds like a great project.

If I ever get it finished. Basically, it is 2 X 8" F8 newtonian tubes, with some slight modifications, to allow stereoscopic views. If I get it finished, it will look a little cumbersome, but it will look the part!

If it works out it should give killer images, especially at F8. Are the two mirrors absolutely identical in focal length?

If they are not, I am just wondering if it will be hard to get merged images
