I've also e-mailed a couple of other companies in the UK, so am awaiting responses from them.
Judging by those prices however, I think I'll be going with the aluminium.

You're probably right Trev. Thanks for the link.CF is WAY stronger than aluminium, surely 16mm or 18mm would suffice?

Keep them ideas coming Frank!
Most of the shiny poles you see in a hardware store are chrome steel and are generally alot heavier than aluminium. I'll use it if I have to but I'd prefer aluminium if I can get it.
Cheers,

What width tubing are you talking about Mike?
Have you considered the aluminium tubing you can buy in a hardware
store for hanging coats on in a wardrobe?
I'm just firing out ideas here......

I bought those thinking they were aluminium
Anyway the ones I have work out at 67 grammes per foot which is a bit much. That's for the .75" tubing, which although it's only 1/3rd as strong as 1" tubing doesn't seem to flex much at all. I've yet to attach it to my secondary cage so I'll no more in a couple of days.
The tubes were €10 per 6 foot in Atlantic Homecare of all places.
Hope that helps.

I used (for work) some air tubing a couple of years ago, cannot remember the price and the wall thickness was about 1mm which may be too heavy. Anyway here is the link, company in Cork,..
www.irishpneumatic.com/suppliers/transair.htm
I know that Trevor has sourced tubing for his Dob in England, I'm sure he will be on line with details soon.
