Most art supply shops stock coloured gell-coated acetate/plastic. Failing that, try a commercial (magazine) printer - they use the same stuff when producing film negatives for their lithographic printers.

The Art and Hobby shop usually has some. I guess most arts and crafts places would stock it.

The acetate that you should look for for the best effect is called rubylith. Just make sure not to get the adhesive kind - that would really mess up your laptop screen.

oh god, no!! nothing that sticks to the screen. I want something that i can put in a frame and leave over the screen, but not stick to the screen! im using a work laptop ( not bring my lovely Macbook pro out in the cold!) so I cant leave anything permanent on it. Il try the hoby shop in dundrum, thats pretty close to where i live. Thanks guys

Thanks John - that's the name that wouldn't come to me!

PS - Another place to try is your local theatre - they use this stuff for colouring their spot lights.
