I just checked out the EP's a while ago.I aimed the scope at an object at the end of my garden. They work (always a good thing). There's a very nice range of magnification in the kit (both with and without the Barlow2X). I'm thinking that the 4mm EP will get most use observing the moon (big and bright) because trying to find anything else in it...........i'm thinking is gonna be next to impossible (but i like it).

I spose i could start with a bigger EP and work my way down to the 4mm on the same object...(sounds like a plan)

The 32mm is something else. Its got a huge FOV. I wonder will the whole of the seven sisters fit in it. I'm thinking so. The downside to such a huge FOV is that to see ANYTHING your eye has to be in the right place at the right time or you see just the inside of the barrel. I find i have to have my eye about 1-1.5 inch away from the EP to see through it.

Everything in between (6mm,9mm,15mm) is fine.

Hi Paul
Glad the eyepiece kit arrived and your satisfied with your purchase. I would recommend that you also purchase a polarizing Moon filter (unless of course there is one in the kit already) if you plan to visually observe the Moon frequently, especially near full phase; it will be easier on your eyes and enhance detail depending on conditions etc. I had one for my Nexstar 80GT telescope and it worked a treat for visual observing and I don’t think it was that expensive!

There's a moon filter in the kit. Just looking through it kicks the light level down about half (just a guess).

"transmission is 18 percent"....according to the destructions.

Cheers for that review!

It is a similar, but more extensive, than a set I had with an old Tal 1M scope, and I was always very impressed by them.

Moon/Planetary viewing is probably my main aim here, especially with my camera set up. I'm a back/front yeard astronomer at the minute and viewing isn't great for the fainter objects.

Hi Paul

Some approximate calculations regarding your Celestron 90EQ @F11 and eyepiece setup…

Celestron 32mm Plossl (Apparent field of view) ~46 degrees
True Field of view: ~1.49 Degrees (that’s about 3 Moon diameters)
Magnification: x31

Celestron 15mm Plossl (Apparent field of view) 52 degrees
True Field of view: ~0.79 Degrees
Magnification: x66

Celestron 9mm Plossl (Apparent field of view) 52 degrees
True Field of view: ~0.47 Degrees
Magnification: x110

Celestron 6mm Plossl (Apparent field of view) 52 degrees
True Field of view: ~0.32 Degrees
Magnification: x165

Celestron 4mm Plossl (Apparent field of view) 52 degrees
True Field of view: ~0.21 Degrees
Magnification: x248

The Pleiades covers approximately 2 degrees of sky, so the 32mm would be a good choice for viewing this object (and others of course)! Can you bring objects to focus in your telescope without your eyeglasses? This may allow you a closer proximity to the EP cup and hence perhaps a better/comfortable view through the EP.

Thanks for that Mike. I dont wear the glasses when using the scope or bins. They are just for tv and what not.

Even without them i have to look through the 32mm from a distance. If i actually put my eye up to it......................all i see is the inside of the EP. The rubber eye ring makes it worse, so i keep that folded down.

Of course i wont really know til i get out and use them.
