9Ft? Bah, shouldn't bother them at all, you have a big back yard to take it!

Btw, with the MkII show-and-tell be during barbecue season like last time? ;)

The overall hight is approx 9ft.
I don't expect too many problems to be honest.

Carefull now Michael, I did a fair amount of research for my dome and got what called a "planning permission exemption form" you show the city planners the dome design and they give you this form, anyone objecting to it can be shown this form and told to go stuff themselves.
I did get one grumble but no complains really.
To qualify, the structure...

1, must be less the 9 feet high
2, must be more then 6 inches from a boundary wall (this does differ from one council to the next)
3, must not be a permanent structure, not made from bricks basically.
4, must not take over 50% of the garden surface area.
5, there must be more then 100 square feet of the garden left after the structure is in place
6, cannot use it for farm/work animals
7, cannot be used for commercial use.
8, cannot run noisy industrial machinery
9, cannot overlook anyone
these are the ones I remember, I do know for a fact that the distances, garden areas do differ from one city/county council to another, I think in Limerick county council it cant be within 6 feet of the boundary. Basically cover yourself.

The destruction/removal of the existing shed and observatory took a step forward on Friday when Declan Molloy gave me a hand loading up a skip. Unfortunately, the weather was miserable. The skip was filled to the rbim with a "few" old paving slabs and most of the large shed. The full skip was taken away today and a nice clean empty one put in it's place.

I've a 4 day weekend coming up and so I plan to get rid of the remainder of the shed and the old observatory. All goping well, I will then start digging out for the pier & slab.

I thinking about motorising the dome and connecting it up to ACP.
I'm planning to use the Lesvedome system.
I can get the USB interface board easily enough in Maplin.
However, it's the remainder of the parts I am having trouble with! :)
Unfortunately, my knowledge of electronics is limited to wiring a plug. :(

How does one go about selecting a size and type of motor?
AC or DC?
2amp? 10amp?? 100amp???
Anything else I should watch out for?
Where is the best place to buy motors like these?

The dome is fairly light and smooth and so won't need a powerful motor to run.
I will also need two other motors: one of the main shutter and one for the lower shutter.

Thanks,

Michael.
