Aldi/Lidl Due Another Telescope Sale Soon?

Re the 10-30x60 bins I bought a pair and noted the following on the IAA Forum....

Well I picked up a pair of these. Not perfect by any means, but not junk either. Here's the initial impressions:-

Field of view poor at 10x but expands with zooming and is respectable by 20x and maintains this field up to 30x.

Sharp across the frame at all settings, but it is varifocal - ie needs refocusing after adjusting the zoom. Contrast is pretty reasonable too.

Probably best in performance around 20x there is pincushion distortion near the edges at all settings but this is pretty normal with budget binos.

The worst feature is the field of view at 10x, made a bit worse by the fact that the edge looks to be blurred as if it is restricted by the objective lens rather than a field stop, though zooming in improves this no end.

So useful, but with limitations. No surprise at the price.

Our LIDL specials start this Monday and include the Bresser 70mm refractor which I am thinking of picking up as a guide scope for my AP160 and/or AP305 Mak-Cass when the latter is finally ready for shipping.

I also bought the Lidl binoculars even though I have and love my Bresser 10 X 50s from last year and I was disappointed.

The FOV at 10X is too small, its like what you'd expect from a pair of 8 X 25 sports binoculars instead, smaller even. Even when you zoom in at 20X or 30X its still not as good as the Bressers. The killer though has to be the darkness of the images, Ive tried both pairs side by side on the same target now and the difference in brightness is just too much, back to the shop they go tomorrow, Lidl give you 19 days to return stuff to any of their stores even if you didnt buy it there as long as you have a receipt. I also found the weight a bit much when I was looking up on Christmas Eve, especially since the image wasnt as good as the lighter pair.

I agree with you on the small FOV at 10x but at 30x for the
price (19 lids) they are grand.
Not trying to poo poo your review but,
they are what they are and for the price it's hard
to complain.
As a side companion to the superior Bressier 10 x 50's that is.
