Nice image Darragh. Focus seems to a tad off - but not much. My guess is that poor seeing is affecting the image a little.

Keep it up and keep us poseted!

Cheers

That's a very good first image Darragh. Next time, as it's the moon, try ISO 100 and see what your exposure time will be like. Might be easier to process after.

Clear skies,

Got out again tonight and did the moon again, this time, I switch the ISO to 200 and shutter speed to 1/100s

I took 24 shots and stacked the best 9 in Registax and here is the result:
320

Clear Skies!

Yep, getting better alright Darragh. Do you have photoshop/paint shop pro/gimp? Perhaps trying a little unsharp mask (100%, 3 to 4)
Give this a go and see what happens. It should help. The focus seems to be off just a tad - fwiw, focuising is probably the most difficult bit so it'll take time and practice. Good efforts so far though.

Nice one Darragah, what time were you out last night?
I came back in after 10:30, as there was quite a bit of cloud cover. Although at 80% the moon easily burned through this when viewed thro a scope. This makes your pic even more interesting - the fact that you got clear snaps in poor skies. Did you use a filter or did you do as I did and rely on the cloud to filter most of the brightness.

Clear Skies,
