Just to give you an idea of what you need to be capturing, heres a crop from a single frame used to make the image above, no processing at all except coverted from RAW to JPG.

Dave - you've got a nice level balance there - the core not too overexposed whilst plenty of detail awayfrom the core.
If I crank up the brightness of my monitor, I start to see some curious colour artifacts above the core (11 to 2 O'clock positions with the core as the center of the clock). Any idea what that might be? Doesn't look like vignetting but then the software seems to have fairly heavily processed the background...
With my brightness on normal, its a nice image
