Without sounding corny, I hope it encourages more here to get the scope out and have a look at this planet, next year its going to be even worse as it'll be lower and wont recover for a few years.
I'm find that I'm spending half my time looking at it and the other imaging it.

Dave - simply superb. I just love animations - they really show you the dyanic nature of stuff out there. And you've done an excellent job of an event that most of us rarely see.
I particulary like the way you have capture both Io and its shadow together.
Absulutely fanatastic - thanks for sharing.

Great animation Dave,
Two questions:
What software did you use to create the animation?
One of the frames appears to have a blue background. Was it taken late in the evening perhaps?

Michael,
It was made using photoshop cs2, it has an animation generation function which works well.
The blue was one image where the background was abit bright, it didnt look that bright to me at the time, looking back now i could refine each frame to resemble each other more closely, but you could spend a week at this and still not be happy.
Dave,
Aren't simulations great fun, their only drawback is that take alot of time (at least this one did) to process afterwards.
There is easily 12 hours of processing in that animation, and that doesnt include the capture.!
