Do you have any facilities to put the higher res images on another website at all?

I try to keep any of my images below the 80k mark so we can save the IFAS bandwidth.

You can always upload to flickr, tag with irishastronomy and then link/display to that. And save your own or IFAS bandwidth.

Heres the current slideshow of irishastronomy images up there:

Yes Al, new toy alright. :) 75mm apo with built-in field flattener. Creates a flat frame for a 6x4 image and has a lockable focuser.

I'll place a higher res image on my website later. There's no problem with space there - I just didn't wnat dail-up users getting hit with a 300+kb image, that's all. I'll get to work on this now.

Cheers,

Ok, took another look at it.

On my monitor the image looks fine and bright. I've checked the levels and this eems to concur. If I make it any brighter, areas on the moon will become washed out - it's at the limit at the mo, or else it will lose contrast.

The jagged edges on the lower end of the moon is caused by the actual roughness to the lunar surface, not by pixilation.

Well, with the comments made above in the back of my mind, I tried to capture a better image of the Moon tonight. Any better? Gone too far the other way with anything?

Feedback is welcome even if it is negative.

Hi Michael,

They are two first class images.

I prefer the first to be honest. I think you might have overdone the sharpening a tad on the second.

Well done!!
