RAW is the term given to lossless images from DSLRs. The likes of the ST-8 captures FITS files, which are an uncompressed lossless format, as I understand. The file also contains info about the time, temperature of the chip and a load of other info. FITS is the recognised standard as far as scientific astronomical images are concerned.

Thanks Michael, I think images-plus can handle fits, or does the ST8 come with its own software that can handle the LRGB.

Grand image, I assume that's not with the 12" given the field of view.

Oh yea, it was with the Pentax. Wouldn't we just love if the 12" gave that wide a FOV!

They need more exposures and longer ones.

Imagesplus can work with FITS. The camera comes with it's own control software (CCDOPS). This can look after the control of the camera, filter wheel, adaptive optics etc.
