Contain a chart with 64,000 shades of grey. One should be able to see all the boxes except for a single narrow line at the very edges which are black. As the image is very large in size, one needs to click on it to zoom in when viewed in a browser.

FWIW, I came across this recently.

Here's a simpler one to look at. Here, a different shade of grey is assigned to each letter of the alphabet. You should see a row of boxes each subtly different to another. If at any stage you see a rectangle instead of a box, then the monitor may need adjustment as it's then displaying two different shades of grey as one. Hope this makes sense.

Yes. However, you want the outside row to be jet black - not a grey. If it is grey, the monitor is probably set too bright. Conversely, if you see a very thick black row on the outside, the brightness may be too low or the contrast needs adjustment.
