Great stuff Frank, and congrats for getting the lead pic on spaceweather.com

:(
Thats a pain.
What kind of framerate did you use out of curiosity?

I used 25fps, but I had the exposure wrong so it smeared. I dont mind really, I've been planning to do this for years, but just never got around to it. Given that the shuttle is there and the view of it though the 20" over the weekend has given me a good push to finally do it.
The tracking was good enough to catch most of the ISS pass in the 26mm eyepiece of the 12", so that kinda made up for it as I stopped imaging it half ways up and just watched it sailing past all the stars through the eyepiece, very cool !!!

While I was at it, I tracked 5 other satellites though the eyepiece but been so small, they appeared as star points. I'm keeping an eye out for the HST, that would be a nice one to see.

It would indeed be nice to see, but as far as I know you would have to move further South to see it as its orbit does not take it far enough up in latitude to allow us see it from Ireland. Pity though...

Having had a look at heavens-above.com, it seems that the HST orbit never goes further north then north africa, so that's never going to be visible from here, ah well....

Dave,

This is something I looked into as well and, more specifically, a solar transit by the HST. For my location at least, it is doable but I have yet to encounter such an opportunity .... and I do check on a regular basis.

Dave,
The pair are passing over tonight around 11:40.
Are you gonna give it another try?
Was the 12'' keeping the ISS in the frame for you?
If it was it's just an exposure issue and I'd say less is more...
especially when it's near overhead.
I'd love to see what you could get with the 12''er!
I might take you up on the barlow challenge!
