Mars...... by a learner

Well, I usually go as fast a frame rate as I can.
The new laptop lets me get 30fps with no dropped frames.

I get rid of gamma altogether and use the gain & brightness only to
get the planet bright enough for detail.

I now take a screen shot of the settings I use just as a refrence
here are the settings I used for tonight

and I got similar results
to the last night I imaged Mars.

I also found the real magic comes about in processing the AVI.
I now push the quality level in Registax to a MIN of 85%.
This means I need roughly 3500 frames to get a good stack size from
(usually around 2000)
I also use 150 frames to create the reference frame and try and get this
as close to a finished looking shot as possible.

Detail is great (polar ice cap is even showing). Impressive for a 1st attempt. I haven't even atempted it yet cuz of clouds.

Greetings....

Frank, I tried out your suggestion using the 150 frames for a reference and it seemed to make a difference... many thanks.

One thing I noticed, was that the image "live" seemed to be much brighter than when I put the AVIs through registax........ any ideas?

Anyway, I had a go at further processing of one of the AVIs from last night and here is the result.

Seems to be an improvement alright, I'd only use 150 frames for the
guide image if I had more than 2000 good frames.
How long is the avi.

Sometimes the quality of the captured AVI will just not stand up in registax.
Some of the AVI's I got last night looked great while capturing but after processing turned out just alright......
