Yip. It also depends on how you have the ccd orientated. If you do an imaging run over a few nights its important to keep the ccd in place because its difficult(understatement) to get it in the exact same position/rotation if you remove it.

OK OK!! Maybe that wasn't the smartest comment I ever made :)

However, unless you become your own biggest critic, you won't get any better. The real reason for the dissapointment was I was looking at this image as a reference.

<Note to self> Don't use rob gendlers images as references anymore:) It''s bound to end in tears!

Dave - stop looking at that site... it is pure hard-core astro-porn! I don't know whether to gasp or cry - all I know is that I had to stop myself from pawing the screen!!! Bad boy!

Phil.

PS - Dang good image, especially considering that you're shooting from Raheny and not New Mexico, and using a 10" Newt and not a 20"RC!! Beautiful shot!

Dave your pic is GREAT. Yes............side by side with the one you were aiming to copy, it is different (not to say it aint as good as).............but only cuz you pointed it out. But thats like trying to make a copy of the Mona Lisa. Different people have different views of the same thing. I dont think you are doing yourself any favours trying to get the same results in images as others have obtained.

It simply is not possible.

But i agree...........you are your own best critic in anything you do in life and only by being so can you learn and improve.

You are too hard on yourself. But that's a good thing really................

Just the rest of us dont see in your what you see.

I really love the "twisted" shape of the galaxy in your pic.

Well have to rename the NGC the New Grennan Catalogue if you keep up this pace Dave!
You captured those galaxies perfectly, that yellow/white glow around them is A1.
